AUSTRALIAN PLANTS SOCIETY
Southern Eyre Group Inc.
First formed in 1979, the Southern Eyre Branch of The Australian Plants Society is one of the oldest environment related groups on the Eyre Peninsula. The group is still very active, holding monthly outings to various sites of natural beauty around the Lower Eyre Peninsula.
The Australian Plants Society has member groups across Australia and occasionally our group will travel further afield to weekend outings hosted by the Kimba and Eastern Eyre branches or to forums around Australia.
Group members have extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna and a strong interest in the historical value of natural assets. This knowledge often allows members to gain access to properties and places of interest not normally accessible to the general public.
Outings are held monthly on the second Sunday of each month with August and September the being the most popular due to the wide range of native plant species flowering at that time. Meetings are fairly informal and held with a shared lunch during the outings. Bring a hat, solid footwear, a chair and lunch. Vehicle sharing is usual.
The group has also produced the first local plant Identikit book for the Lower Eyre Peninsula and it is available from our members.

If you are interested in the native flora of the Eyre Peninsula, this is definitely the group for you. Please contact our secretary John Ison on 86821411 or email@example.com
